Install

Download, install and open Cargocat on macOS, Windows or Linux.

Requirements

Platform Requirement Build
macOS 14.6 Sonoma or later Universal — Apple silicon and Intel
Windows 10 or later x64
Linux 64-bit x64 AppImage or .deb

macOS

  1. Download the .dmg from the downloads page.
  2. Open it and drag Cargocat to your Applications folder.
  3. Open it from Applications.

The app is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally through Gatekeeper. If macOS reports a damaged or incomplete download, fetch the disk image again rather than clicking through.

Windows

  1. Download the installer from the downloads page.
  2. Run it. It is Authenticode signed. SmartScreen may show a warning while our new code-signing identity builds its reputation.
  3. Launch Cargocat from the Start menu.

Linux

For most distributions, download the AppImage from the downloads page, make it executable, and open it:

chmod +x Cargocat_*_amd64.AppImage
./Cargocat_*_amd64.AppImage

On Debian or Ubuntu, download the .deb instead and open it with your package installer, or install it from a terminal:

sudo apt install ./Cargocat_*_amd64.deb

Both packages support the built-in audio and video previews. The AppImage bundles the GStreamer components they need.

Updates

During the public beta, install new builds from the downloads page. Automatic updates begin with the first stable release. Every build is published on GitHub, so you can also install a specific older version by hand.

Uninstalling

Remove Cargocat through your operating system as usual: delete it from Applications on macOS, use Installed Apps on Windows, or delete the AppImage/remove the .deb on Linux. Two things live outside the app:

  • Your stored credentials, in the operating system keychain. Remove the entries under app.cargocat.credentials to clear them.
  • Your local data — connection settings, the activity trail, logs — in the standard application-support directory for your platform.

Neither is touched by an update, only by you.
